Well, it is possible that the "Contract year syndrome" would explain Cofield's very good year, but it may also have been that Cofield is better suited for the Fewell/Nunn defense than the Spagnuolo defense. Time will tell!
However, you must admit that last year's Cofield was superior to both Canty and Bernard's last 2 years. Again, Canty, who has not been as good a 4-3 DT as he was a 3-4 DE, may be too expensive to cut, but we need more pressure up the middle than he has given the Giants. – Bob G.
Again I disagree with you. I thought until he got hurt in the second half of the season, Canty was having a pretty good year. And it’s really not fair, in my opinion, to measure Cofield’s 2009 performance against Canty’s and Bernard’s considering both were hurt. If I recall correctly, Cofield was really the only reasonably healthy member of that line in 2009.
